Shabwa authorities report more than 53 killed in strike on Yemen camp
The death toll from a missile attack on a government training camp in Yemen’s Shabwa province has exceeded 53, local authorities said. The attack took place on Monday.
The strike hit al-Alam camp, where recruits were training to join the internal security forces. Provincial authorities described the death toll as preliminary.
Yemeni military officials blamed the Houthis for the attack. The movement acknowledged targeting the camp, Associated Press reported.
Shabwa authorities called on the country’s leadership, the government and Saudi Arabia to provide air-defence, surveillance and early-warning systems for the province.
