Woman detained in Orenburg nurse murder investigation

Woman detained in Orenburg nurse murder investigation

Investigators announced on October 14 that a woman had been detained on suspicion of murdering a nurse in Orenburg. The missing woman’s body had previously been found at a private property.

The regional Investigative Committee said investigators were carrying out procedural actions with the suspect. The agency was considering seeking pretrial custody. Detention itself does not mean a court has already ordered that measure.

The case under Part 1 of Article 105 of Russia’s Criminal Code was initially opened after an Orenburg resident disappeared. Her body was later found at a private property with signs of violent death. Investigators examined the scene and ordered forensic examinations.

Investigators are separately examining how another woman found in her own home sustained knife injuries. In its morning comment to RIA, the regional committee rejected reports presenting her involvement in the murder as an established fact. The subsequent detention announcement is not a criminal conviction.
