Moscow financial literacy programme receives social project award

Moscow’s Young Investor School has received a Best Social Projects of Russia award in the financial literacy category. Kirill Purtov, head of the city’s competition policy department, reported the award on October 9.

The free programme introduces children and teenagers to economics, entrepreneurship and city auctions. Sessions take place at Moscow educational venues and through visiting business games in schools and colleges. Participants practise making decisions as entrepreneurs and investors, then review the results.

Purtov said more than 35,000 schoolchildren had participated over 11 years. Organisers plan 235 events for more than 4,000 children in 2026. The figures are provided by the programme’s organisers.

The department created the project in August 2015, and municipal institution Moszakupki runs it. The programme first received a Best Social Projects of Russia award in 2016.

Moszakupki director Yevgenia Bondarenko said 88 people took part when the programme began, compared with around 4,700 schoolchildren annually now. The latest award is the project’s second in this competition.
