Moscow police arrest suspect in two boutique thefts
Moscow police reported on October 12 that a 28-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of stealing clothing and a handbag from shops on Petrovka and Tverskaya streets.
Police allege that she took a pullover and jeans worth more than 280,000 rubles into a fitting room at the Petrovka shop. She then put them on and left without paying. The incident was recorded by a surveillance camera.
The second allegation concerns a branded handbag taken from a boutique on Tverskaya Street. Store employees reported the suspected theft to police.
The Moscow police statement says officers detained the suspect near the shop and recovered the stolen items. Criminal cases over theft have been opened for both incidents. Officers are checking whether she may have been involved in other similar incidents.
