Moscow police detain man over late neighbour's money and flat
Moscow police detained a 41-year-old man suspected of stealing a deceased neighbour's money and attempting to obtain her flat, the city's Interior Ministry directorate said.
Police allege he recruited a woman who resembled the neighbour to withdraw 2 million rubles from her account. Forged documents were then submitted to privatise the flat on Prospekt Mira.
The man was detained in Ramenskoye and remanded in custody. Officers found laptops, phones and cash during a search.
Cases were opened under Article 158, Part 3, and Article 30, Part 3, in conjunction with Article 159, Part 4, of Russia's Criminal Code, covering theft and attempted fraud. The alleged accomplice left Russia, and police are seeking her detention.
