Kejriwal urges supporters to join planned Delhi protest on October 10
The Aam Aadmi Party leader said he planned to attend the Jantar Mantar demonstration with his family. Delhi Police had denied organisers permission.
Arvind Kejriwal, national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, urged people to join a demonstration planned at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, October 10, and said he would attend with his family. The protest was called by the Cockroach Janata Party and student organisations demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Kejriwal alleged that authorities were deleting votes of people who did not support the Bharatiya Janata Party and adding fictitious entries. Those accusations are political claims and were not substantiated by evidence in the report. International reporting has described large-scale deletions during a broader voter-roll revision, but that fact alone does not establish the allegation of targeted removals.
Delhi Police denied permission for the demonstration, citing a late application, past non-compliance with protest conditions and public-order concerns. Police have also said applications for events at Jantar Mantar must be filed in advance. Cockroach Janata Party activist Abhijeet Dipke said organisers intended to proceed despite the denial and were prepared for detention.
The Associated Press reported increased security and transport restrictions in the capital ahead of Saturday’s demonstration. The agency said the protest is part of a dispute over voter-list revisions and demands for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. At publication time, the demonstration was planned, but police permission had not been granted.
