North Ossetia bids farewell to artist Shalva Bedoev

A farewell ceremony was held in North Ossetia for People's Artist of Russia Shalva Bedoev, who died in his 86th year. He was buried at the Eastern Cemetery in Vladikavkaz.
Representatives of the republic's leadership, cultural community and public organizations attended the ceremony at the North Ossetia Union of Artists, along with the painter's colleagues and students. Union chairman Taimuraz Margiev announced Bedoev's death on October 4.
Bedoev began exhibiting his work in the 1970s. From 2000 to 2005, he headed the North Ossetia Union of Artists and founded the Faculty of Fine Arts at North Ossetian State University.
His works are held at the State Russian Museum, the Russian Academy of Arts Museum, collections abroad and private collections. The farewell took place at the regional artists' union before Bedoev was buried in Vladikavkaz.
