Nikitin and Aplachkina take Russian 10km road titles in Moscow

Vladimir Nikitin and Svetlana Aplachkina won the Russian 10km road championships at Moscow's Red and White Run on October 10.

Nikitin finished in 28 minutes 12 seconds. Silver medallist Viktor Gurzhiy ran 29:08 and bronze medallist Dmitry Nedelin clocked 29:09, leaving just one second between the runners-up.

Aplachkina won the women's championship race in 31:43. Anna Mokina placed second in 32:38, followed by Nina Byshkina in 32:50.

The programme also included other 10km and 5km races. Rinas Akhmadeev led a separate men's 10km category in 29:09, while Sofya Kameneva won its women's counterpart in 33:13. These results belonged to different classifications, rather than the championship podiums.

Alexey Dorokhin, Kirill Khudyakov and Ivan Belyakov took the first three men's 5km places. All had published times of 15:14, with tenths of a second deciding their order. Maria Sementsova won the women's 5km in 16:48 ahead of Yulia Konyakina in 16:57 and Yulia Zubareva in 17:40.

Courses followed streets around LUKOIL Arena, Spartak's home stadium. Children's races covered categories for under-six entrants, those aged seven to ten and those aged eleven to fourteen.

Oleg Romantsev attended the opening ceremony. Alexey Smertin, Artyom Rebrov and Alexander Panzhinsky were among the pacers, while Alexander Legkov led the warm-up.
