Nikolai Tikhonov picks Apollo 13 as most authentic space film

Russian test cosmonaut Nikolai Tikhonov named Apollo 13 his choice for the most authentic depiction of spaceflight in comments published by RIA Novosti on October 10.

Asked which film most accurately portrays flights into space, Tikhonov singled out the American production. His choice represents his professional assessment rather than an official ranking.

Among Soviet films, he highlighted Taming of the Fire, which follows the development of the rocket and space industry. He acknowledged embellished situations and fictional elements but praised the film overall.

Tikhonov joined the cosmonaut corps in 2006 and qualified as a test cosmonaut in 2009. He trained for expeditions to the International Space Station, including as commander of Soyuz MS-16. The agency's account describes his training rather than a completed flight.
