Two 15-year-old girls hospitalised after crossing collision in Svetlograd

A Niva vehicle struck two 15-year-old girls at an unsignalised pedestrian crossing in Svetlograd, Stavropol region. Both were taken to Petrovskaya District Hospital with injuries, the regional State Traffic Inspectorate said.
According to the inspectorate's preliminary account, the collision occurred at about 17:55 on October 9. The girls were crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing when the vehicle, driven by a 71-year-old man, hit them.
The injured teenagers are local residents. RIA Novosti and AiF Stavropol reported their hospitalisation on October 10, citing the traffic authorities.
The driver has 39 years of driving experience. The inspectorate said he had been subject to an administrative penalty once during the preceding two years and was sober at the time of the collision.
Authorities are establishing the circumstances. Their account of the timing, the pedestrians' movement and the driver's actions remains a preliminary finding from the investigation.
