North Korea threatens US countermeasures over trafficking report

North Korea’s Foreign Ministry threatened harsh countermeasures against US human rights policy after the State Department’s 2026 trafficking report, RIA Novosti reported on October 10.
A ministry spokesperson’s statement claimed that US actions threatened North Korea’s sovereign rights and its citizens’ interests. It described Washington’s human rights policy as a priority target for retaliation alongside other actions Pyongyang considers hostile.
The ministry characterised the trafficking report as part of a confrontational policy seeking to overthrow North Korea’s social system. Those assertions represent the North Korean ministry’s position. The statement quoted by RIA Novosti did not identify specific countermeasures or a timetable for implementing them.
