Telangana BJP chief urges party workers to defend electoral-roll revision

Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao has urged party leaders and workers to counter Congress criticism of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, accusing the opposition of spreading misinformation.

Speaking at the party’s state office, Rao addressed cell conveners, senior leaders, spokespersons and media panelists. He said workers should explain why accurate voter lists matter and take the issue to local communities.

He accused Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of attacking constitutional institutions because they feared electoral defeats. These are Rao’s political allegations, rather than established findings.

Rao also disputed Congress accounts of its delegation’s recent meeting with the President. He alleged that the party had not supplied evidence of vote theft and challenged it to identify voters whose names had been unlawfully deleted.

Describing the revision process, he said its second phase would take four to five months and involve several levels of verification. Booth-level officers would visit households to check voter details, including deaths and migration, before draft rolls were prepared.

He said procedures also allow names to be restored following objections to deletions. Rao argued that transparent, accurate rolls strengthen democracy and asked BJP workers to make that case at the grassroots.
