The Onças do Iguaçu project and Rimando no Front will hold three rap battles in Paraná focused on jaguars, forests and conservation. The final is set for November 29, International Jaguar Day.
The competition will use a best-of-three format. The first battle is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on October 31 at the Mirante do Hotel viewpoint in Iguaçu National Park. The second will take place at 8 p.m. on November 2 at the Batalha da Pista venue.
Organizers say they want to bring conservation to audiences who do not usually follow environmental discussions. Participants will receive information about jaguars and their habitat before performing. They will use that material to improvise about the animals, the forest and how people can coexist with big cats.
The final round will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on November 29 at the Feirinha da JK market in downtown Foz do Iguaçu. The winner will receive a prize, plus two travel tickets and accommodation to compete at Batalha da Aldeia in São Paulo, which organizers describe as one of Brazil's leading rap-battle events.
