Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky starts gas boiler plant with capacity for new development

Gas supply has started at a new boiler plant in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky designed to serve residential development and future social facilities, Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov said.

Solodov launched the facility alongside Alexander Cherkashin, general director of Gazprom Gas Distribution Far East. The governor said the plant had spare capacity for planned construction.

Natural gas will be the main fuel, with diesel available as a backup for emergencies. Solodov said using gas would reduce heat production costs and harmful emissions.

A further 2.1 kilometers of heating pipelines were built alongside the plant. The governor also said dozens of private homes in the Yelizovsky district had gained access to gas connections under the region’s gasification program.
