Pezeshkian hopes to meet Putin during planned Moscow visit

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on October 19 that he expected to travel to Russia for the Gas Exporting Countries Forum summit and hoped to meet Vladimir Putin.

Pezeshkian discussed his plans during talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Tehran. He asked Lavrov to convey his greetings to Putin and thanked Russia’s leadership and people for their position on recent events.

Lavrov said Putin was awaiting the Iranian president at the summit and hoped they would also hold separate bilateral talks. The minister said the meeting would continue the leaders’ conversation at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek.

The eighth Gas Exporting Countries Forum summit is scheduled for October 27 in Moscow.
