Pezeshkian warns attacks in the Caspian could threaten regional security

The Iranian president said strikes on coastal facilities and vessels could endanger regional security and have cross-border environmental consequences.
Masoud Pezeshkian made the remarks on October 9 at the Caspian Environmental Summit in Turkmenbashi. His office published the text of his speech.
As examples, Pezeshkian cited an attack on Anzali port during military action by the United States and Israel against Iran, and an attack by Ukraine on an Iranian merchant vessel. These were claims made in his speech.
The president said military strikes on ports, vessels, fuel storage facilities, industrial sites and other maritime infrastructure could affect more than the country where they occur. He urged Caspian littoral states to condemn such attacks and hold those responsible to account.
