Chennai to divert commercial and heavy vehicles during Modi’s October 11 visit

Commercial and heavy vehicles in Chennai will face diversions from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on October 11 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police announced.

Vehicles approaching on GST Road from Tambaram will be directed at Tiruneermalai Junction towards Kundrathur Road. Traffic from Pallavaram will be sent towards Tambaram at International Airport Junction near Hotel Airway.

On Jawaharlal Nehru 100 Feet Road, vehicles heading from Koyambedu towards Kathipara Bridge will be diverted at Ashok Nagar Second Avenue towards Koyambedu or K.K. Nagar. Those arriving from Ashok Pillar will be directed at CIPET Junction towards Guindy Industrial Estate.

On Mount Poonamallee Road, diversions will send vehicles from Porur Toll Plaza towards Maduravoyal and from Ramapuram Junction towards Arasamaram Junction.

Vehicles approaching Lok Bhavan from Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) or Sardar Patel Road will be directed at Gandhimandapam Junction towards CPT. The same diversion applies to traffic from Gandhimandapam Salai.

Vehicles heading from Velachery Main Road towards Sardar Patel Road will be sent towards Velachery at Guru Nanak Junction. Traffic approaching Lok Bhavan from Anna Salai will be redirected at MC Raja U-turn towards Anna Salai to continue to its destination.

Police asked transport operators and motorists to plan around the restrictions and follow the designated routes. The advisory specifies commercial and heavy vehicles, with measures intended to maintain traffic flow and public safety.
