Postecoglou declines to discuss Ronaldo’s Portugal dispute

Al-Nassr coach Ange Postecoglou said he would not comment on Cristiano Ronaldo’s disagreement with Portugal coach Jorge Jesus.

Postecoglou said Ronaldo returned to the club in good physical and mental condition. He stressed that this was the main thing for the team. The coach said his own experience managing a national side informed his decision to stay out of the dispute. He had disliked it when club managers publicly weighed in on the internal affairs of national teams.

The 41-year-old Ronaldo had earlier left Portugal’s camp after a disagreement with Jesus. In a statement on October 6, the player said the coach had broken his word twice. Ronaldo’s club coach said he did not want to discuss details of what had happened with Portugal. The forward has played for Al-Nassr since January 2023.
