Putin calls for closer coordination against cyberthreats

Vladimir Putin called for closer cooperation between security agencies and businesses at an information security meeting on October 14. He identified risk analysis, dependence on external platforms and rapid responses to cyberattacks as priorities.
His opening remarks sought proposals to improve digital security. He said cyberthreats were affecting the economy, transport and public services.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov had announced the meeting earlier that day. He named Dmitry Medvedev, Sergei Shoigu and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko among participants.
The president’s public remarks were followed by reports from participants. They set out priorities for discussion, without announcing specific new legal requirements or a completed cybersecurity programme.
