Rangayana to open nine-day theatre festival in Mysuru

Rangayana will hold Navaratri Rangotsava-2026 in Mysuru from October 11 to 19 as part of the Dasara celebrations.

The programme will combine theatre productions with performances of folk art. The opening is scheduled for 5 p.m. local time on October 11. The Hindu and The Times of India reported plans for the festival.

Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj S. Thangadagi is expected to inaugurate the event. A photographic exhibition devoted to Rangayana’s productions is also planned, with department secretary Manjushree due to open it.

Invited guests include Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikantha Reddy, department director K.M. Vasundhara and Mysuru division official Nirmala Mathapati. Rangayana director Satish Tiptur and deputy director M.D. Sudarshan will participate in the programme.

The opening will include the Navaratri Rangagourava award recognising contributions to theatre in Mysuru. Rangayana has called on theatre enthusiasts and local residents to support the festival.
