Redkino factory fire extinguished, Tver governor says

A fire at a factory in Redkino, Russia’s Tver region, has been extinguished and staff were unharmed. Governor Vitaly Korolyov said on October 9 that the blaze began during efforts to repel a drone attack.

The governor said employees had been evacuated to shelter in time. Emergency services continued working at the site after the fire was put out. Korolyov travelled to the facility in Konakovo district.

Regional media subsequently reported his visit and confirmed that the fire had been fully extinguished. The initial statement did not give a damage estimate or a timetable for restoring the plant’s operations.

Russia’s Defence Ministry separately reported 505 Ukrainian drones intercepted and destroyed overnight and early that morning across Russian territories. That is the ministry’s overall figure rather than a count above the Redkino factory.

The governor linked the fire to the response to the attack. His statement did not describe the precise mechanism of damage to the facility.
