Repaired bridge over Sulak River opens in Dagestan

A bridge over the Sulak River in Dagestan has reopened after major repairs. It stands on the Kizilyurt-Dubki-Novy Chirkey road with access to Miatli, and vehicle weight restrictions have been lifted.

The bridge is at kilometre 37.2 of the road. It links the Kizilyurt and Kazbek districts and provides an alternative to a section of the federal R-217 Kavkaz highway, regional Prime Minister Magomed Ramazanov said.

Before the repairs, the old metal bridge had no pedestrian sidewalks. Sidewalks have now been added on both sides. Ramazanov said measures had also been provided for the safe passage of small boats.

The bridge gives access to Sulak Canyon and Stary Zubutli. The opening ceremony took place by video link during the Doroga-2026 exhibition, with Russian First Deputy Transport Minister Konstantin Pashkov and Federal Road Agency head Roman Novikov participating.
