Rosatom seeks temporary ceasefire to repair Zaporizhzhia power equipment
Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev said on October 11 that he hoped a temporary ceasefire could soon be agreed to repair equipment supplying electricity to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.
He said the priority was electrical equipment located at the neighbouring Zaporizhzhia thermal power station. Those systems transfer electricity from the Ferrosplavna power line to the nuclear facility.
Likhachev described the equipment as being in poor condition. He accused Ukrainian forces of continuing attacks and said repair crews could not be sent to work under fire.
According to Likhachev, the talks involve Rosatom, security agencies, Russia's Foreign Ministry and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
He gave no agreed date for a ceasefire or the start of repairs. His remarks described an agreement still being sought to allow crews to work safely, rather than a repair operation already under way.
