Rubio seeks to clear obstacles to Indian refining of Venezuelan oil
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington would need to address sanctions obstacles that could prevent India from increasing its processing of Venezuelan crude.
Rubio outlined the plans to reporters in India, according to an October 21 report by RIA Novosti. He said the issue had come up in earlier discussions with the Indian side and would be raised again. He linked potential obstacles to sanctions previously imposed on Nicolás Maduro.
The US State Department said Rubio and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar discussed energy cooperation during their meeting in Mumbai. Rubio also noted progress in defense and civilian nuclear cooperation and advocated greater purchases of American technologies and systems.
