Russia plans rehabilitation centers for veterans in every federal district

Russia plans a network of rehabilitation centers for disabled war veterans in every federal district, the Defenders of the Fatherland state foundation said on October 9.

The initiative builds on rehabilitation sessions held at the Tchaikovsky center since 2023. The Cybathletics union, Russian State Social University and the foundation jointly run the program, helping participants learn to use prostheses, become more independent and return to active life.

Foundation chair and Deputy Defense Minister Anna Tsivileva said about 650 veterans had completed rehabilitation through the program. Methods developed for people with amputations are already incorporated into prosthetic and orthopedic centers' rehabilitation programs, she said.

The wider network remains a plan rather than an announcement that centers have opened in every district.
