Police investigate teenager's death involving a tram in Samara

A minor died in Samara after trying to ride on the coupling between tram carriages, regional police said. Officers are continuing to establish the circumstances of the incident.

According to the Interior Ministry, the boy, born in 2012, was between the first and second carriages and attempting to hold onto the coupling. The collision occurred as the tram began moving from the 10 Mikrorayon stop, Interfax reported on Oct. 9.

He died at the scene before an ambulance arrived. The police account did not name him or provide final findings from the inquiry or details of other casualties.

NTV also recalled a separate incident in Tyumen, where a schoolboy fell after trying to ride on the outside of a bus. That incident was separate from the Samara crash.
