Russia reports rise in study applications from five EU countries

Applications for Russian education quotas have increased in Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Spain and Slovakia, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
Speaking at a briefing, Zakharova described continuing European interest in studying in Russia. RIA Novosti reported her remarks on October 16.
She said more than three hundred education quota places were allocated to European countries for the 2026–27 academic year, compared with more than three hundred fifty for 2025–26.
Russian Houses in EU countries continue to provide language courses and other educational activities. Zakharova said their users include Europeans and citizens of other countries living in the EU, with most services offered free of charge.
