Russia's meat consumption reaches 83 kilograms per person in 2025

Meat and meat-product consumption in Russia rose to 83 kilograms per person in 2025, RIA Novosti reported after reviewing statistical data. The figure is the highest in the historical series cited by the agency, which begins in 1990.

The previous year's figure was 82 kilograms, putting the annual increase at one kilogram per person. Consumption first exceeded 80 kilograms per person in 2023.

The longer-term trend included a sharp decline before the recovery. Per-person consumption stood at 75 kilograms in 1990, fell during 1990–1999 and reached a low of 45 kilograms in the early 2000s. It subsequently began to rise.

RIA said the figures exclude the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. The reported measure is consumption per person rather than the volume of meat produced.
