Russia has received no clarifications from Germany or allied countries about information on chemical incidents mentioned in Ukrainian diplomatic notes, Russian envoy to the OPCW Vladimir Tarabrin said. Moscow has asked the organisation’s Executive Council to help clarify the matter.
Tarabrin spoke at a closed session of the Executive Council of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. The text of his remarks was made available to RIA Novosti. He said Russia’s requests were made under Article IX of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
The envoy said Moscow was asking the Executive Council to assist in obtaining clarifications. The report did not specify which information on the alleged incidents Russia had requested or when the letters were sent.
The OPCW Executive Council’s 113th session is taking place in The Hague from October 6 to 9. RIA Novosti’s report described statements by the Russian side. It did not provide independent confirmation that Germany held the requested information or had replied.
