Russian science chief says AI helps distinguish drone targets
Russian Academy of Sciences president Gennady Krasnikov said artificial intelligence helps process sensor signals and filter out false targets in counter-drone operations. He discussed the technology in an interview with RIA Novosti published on October 11.
Krasnikov said machine processing draws on acoustic sensors, radar stations and video imagery. Filtering false targets helps establish the direction in which drones are moving, he explained. He described this work as part of a complex effort to counter aerial threats.
He also said efforts to protect Moscow begin well before drones approach the capital, in the area of the fighting. The published interview excerpt did not name specific systems, provide recognition accuracy figures or present test results. His comments describe the technology's general application.
