Samara to reduce remembrance parade to 500 participants

Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev backed a revised format for the November 7 event on Kuibyshev Square, replacing mass participation with a smaller gathering.
Organizers plan to reduce participation from 7,500 to 500 people. The revised approach would exclude marching contingents from other regions and avoid mass spectator attendance this year.
The parade will center on a flag group, security service formations, drummers and a combined military band. Most training will take place at units' bases, with square rehearsals scheduled for November 2 and 6.
An evacuation plan and nearby protective spaces have been identified. An interagency security headquarters is planned for the event. The governor ordered weather shelters over veterans' seats in the stands.
He also changed arrangements for organizing state events. Executive authorities are to take responsibility rather than specially created nonprofit organizations financed from the regional budget.
The regional security and internal policy ministries were tasked with preparing the remembrance and Victory Day parades. These decisions concern preparations for future events, rather than an already completed parade.
