League leaders Flamengo and eighth-placed Santos are playing in round 29 of Brazil’s Serie A. Both sides entered the fixture on five-game winning streaks in the league.
The match is being played at Vila Belmiro as part of the 29th round of the Brazilian Championship. Premiere is carrying the game, while CNN Esportes is providing live text coverage.
Santos sit eighth with 41 points, seven behind Fluminense, the first team in the continental qualification places. After an early exit from the cup competitions, the club have been in one of their best spells of the season and are looking to build momentum toward 2027.
Flamengo lead the table by three points over Palmeiras. Even a defeat in this round would leave the Rio club top because of its advantage on tiebreakers. Flamengo have also won their last five league matches. CNN Brasil described the fixture as a meeting between the competition’s two most in-form teams.
Santos’ starting lineup is Diógenes, Rodinei, Lucas Veríssimo, Willian Arão, Escobar, Gustavo Henrique, Christian Oliva, Philippe Coutinho, Gabriel Bontempo, Barreal and Gabigol. Cuca is the coach. Flamengo’s starting eleven is Rossi, Emerson Royal, Danilo, Léo Pereira, Alex Sandro, Pulgar, Jorginho, Paquetá, Carrascal, Samuel Lino and Pedro, with Leonardo Jardim in charge.
