Shnaider beats Muchova to reach first Wuhan quarterfinal

Diana Shnaider defeated Karolina Muchova 7-5, 6-3 in the third round of the Wuhan WTA 1000 tournament. The Russian reached the event's quarterfinals for the first time.

World No. 13 Shnaider beat seventh-ranked Muchova in straight sets. RIA Novosti put the match duration at one hour and fifty-five minutes.

According to the WTA, Shnaider had previously failed to win in Wuhan in either singles or doubles. All of her singles victories in this year's tournament have come without dropping a set.

The result gave Shnaider her fourth career victory against a top-ten player and her third in 2026. It also secured her fourth career quarterfinal appearance at WTA 1000 level.
