Taylor Fritz beats Matteo Arnaldi to reach Shanghai third round

Taylor Fritz defeated Matteo Arnaldi 7-5, 6-4 in the second round of the ATP 1000 tournament in Shanghai. The American advances to the third round.
The match took place on October 10. Fritz, ranked No. 12 in the ATP rankings, overcame Italy's Arnaldi, who is ranked No. 38.
The first set ended 7-5 and the second 6-4. Sport-Express reported a match duration of one hour and 42 minutes.
When the original report was published, Fritz was awaiting the winner of Luciano Darderi's match against Stefanos Tsitsipas. Tsitsipas subsequently won 6-3, 6-4.
The American will therefore face the Greek player in the third round. Arnaldi's straight-sets defeat ended his singles campaign at the Shanghai tournament.
