Sochi resident receives suspended sentence for damaging warning system

A court in Sochi sentenced a local resident to one and a half years’ imprisonment, suspended, for damaging the city’s warning system. He filled four loudspeaker horns with expanding foam, the Krasnodar region courts’ press service reported on October 9.
According to the case materials, the incident occurred in June 2026. The hardened foam blocked the horns and disabled their sound emitters. Damage to the municipal budget was estimated at 67,400 rubles.
In court, the man acknowledged what had happened. He said he had acted to protect his wife from panic attacks caused by the sound of sirens. The court press service relayed that explanation as the defendant’s account of his motive.
The court found him guilty of deliberately destroying or damaging another party’s property. The punishment is suspended rather than an immediate custodial term.
The judgment has not yet entered into legal force. The announcement therefore records the first-instance court’s decision and its current procedural status.
