Sony announces Japan-only Midnight Black PS5 Digital Edition for November 19

Sony announced a Midnight Black PS5 Digital Edition for Japan, priced at 55,000 yen. The console will go on sale on November 19, according to the Japanese PlayStation Blog.
The model has an 825GB SSD and no built-in disc drive. Sony has not announced performance improvements over the standard PS5 Digital Edition as part of the new colour variant.
The version is intended for use in Japan. It supports a Japanese-language interface and requires a PlayStation account with Japan set as its country or region. Those restrictions matter for buyers considering importing the console.
Sony will release a matching Midnight Black disc drive on the same day for 11,980 yen. It will enable the use of compatible games on physical discs. Japanese retailers and online stores will begin taking preorders for the console and drive on October 20.
