Sport24 reports extra document request in Bolshunov's neutral-status application
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation has requested additional documents from Alexander Bolshunov for neutral status, Russian outlet Sport24 reported on October 11.
According to the report, the three-time Olympic champion had intended to submit his application by the end of the week. Preparations were complicated by objections from several European ski federations to his participation in international competitions.
Sport24 said the additional certificates were intended to establish that the skier had no links to military structures. Its report did not identify the federations raising objections or publish their submissions.
The report concerns further scrutiny of the 29-year-old's documents. It does not establish that neutral status has been granted or that an application has been definitively rejected.
Sport-Express, which relayed Sport24's information, also noted that FIS approved an application procedure for Russian athletes on September 22.
