Bengaluru plans five feeder bus routes for Metro Pink Line
Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation, or BMTC, plans five feeder bus routes for the forthcoming Namma Metro Pink Line. It expects to allocate 30 buses to the services.
The plan calls for 415 trips a day. The Hindu reports a ten-minute frequency on each route, while The Times of India specifies that this frequency is planned for peak hours.
The routes will link stations at Jayadeva Hospital, J.P. Nagar 4th Phase, Tavarekere and Hulimavu with surrounding neighbourhoods. Destinations include Uttarahalli, BTM Layout, Arekere, Bilekahalli, Begur lake and Singasandra.
BMTC is also working with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited to display bus arrival information at Pink Line stations. Passengers would be able to find out when a bus is expected at a nearby stop. The corporations plan to exchange data for this purpose.
The arrival-information service remains at the planning stage. The announcement of five routes likewise does not mean they have already started operating.
BMTC currently runs three feeder services connecting areas along the future Pink Line with other parts of the Metro network. Nine buses operate a combined 132 trips a day on those services.
