St Petersburg–Tyumen expressway corridor targeted for completion in 2026

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said on October 14 that the expressway corridor linking St Petersburg and Tyumen was planned for completion by the end of 2026. The route is expected to extend for 2,670 kilometres.
Speaking by video link at the Road 2026 exhibition in Krasnodar, he said he hoped construction would reach Tyumen this year. He described the M-12 Vostok highway as one of Russia's largest infrastructure projects.
The corridor combines several roads, including the M-11 Neva, Central Ring Road, Moscow High-Speed Diameter and M-12. The latter forms part of the international Europe–Western China route.
Construction of the M-12 began in 2021. It was originally designed to link Moscow and Kazan before being extended. Traffic opened as far as Arzamas in September 2023 and Kazan that December. The highway reached Yekaterinburg in summer 2025, including the Dyurtyuli–Achit section.
