In a survey by Roskachestvo and Finance Mail conducted on October 5–6 among 6,400 adults, 48% of participants said they did not put money into savings every month. TASS reported the findings.
According to the poll, 15% of respondents save irregularly. Another 21% said they set aside up to a tenth of their income, while about one in five reported saving between 10% and 20%. These are responses from survey participants, not official statistics for Russia's entire population.
A separate section asked about existing savings: 21% said they regularly add to a financial safety cushion, while the same share said they had no savings and did not plan to build any. Another 25% intended to start saving, and 34% had savings but were not adding to them.
A financial safety cushion was the savings goal named by 54% of participants. Housing was cited by 13%, travel by 9%, and medical expenses and retirement by 7% each. TASS's report did not describe how the sample was selected, so the figures should be read as results of this particular survey.
