Survey finds impulse purchases common among Russian respondents

In an online survey by the Evolutsiya pension fund and Unisender, 87% of respondents reported impulse purchases, while 81% would spend up to 3,000 rubles without prolonged consideration.

The poll covered 1,400 people across Russia in August, according to findings reported by RIA Novosti. Daily unplanned purchases were reported by 21%, while 66% made them monthly or less often. Another 13% said they tried to avoid such purchases.

Among respondents, 32% would spontaneously spend between 500 and 1,000 rubles and 30% between 1,000 and 3,000 rubles. Purchases above 3,000 rubles were acceptable without much deliberation to 19%.

Improving their mood was a motive for 68%. Discounts, attractive prices, recommendations and online reviews also influenced decisions. Restaurants, cafes and food delivery led the spending categories, cited by 60%, followed by marketplace purchases, reported by nearly half.

Some 68% generally felt positive about impulse spending, while 13% more often regretted it. The remaining respondents' reactions depended on product quality. These figures describe survey participants rather than independently measured spending by the entire population.
