A tanker reported being struck by several projectiles 51 nautical miles north of Madinat ash Shamal. The UK Maritime Trade Operations centre said crew members were injured and that it had opened an investigation.
The vessel itself reported the incident to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) centre. The centre said it received information about several impacts and injured crew members. The tanker’s name, the extent of any damage and other details have not been reported.
The incident took place 51 nautical miles north of Madinat ash Shamal in northern Qatar. UKMTO has opened an investigation. No environmental pollution was reported at the time of publication.
A similar attack occurred about 17 nautical miles from Doha in early April. An unidentified projectile damaged the tanker’s hull, but no crew members were injured. No environmental impact was reported then either.
