Melbourne teenager remanded over hit-and-run near marathon route

A Melbourne children's court remanded a 16-year-old boy on October 12 after a pedestrian was struck by an allegedly stolen car near the marathon route the previous morning.

The court heard that the boy was already on police bail over earlier charges, including aggravated burglary. He did not apply for bail at Monday's hearing and is due back in court on October 19, The Age and ABC reported.

He faces 10 charges over Sunday's incident, including reckless conduct endangering serious injury and failing to render assistance. These are allegations, and the court has not determined guilt.

Police say a Ford Escape struck a 57-year-old woman at the intersection of Flinders and Elizabeth streets before hitting unoccupied parked vehicles. The woman was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Investigators allege the car had been stolen from a business in Cranbourne South at about 2 a.m. on October 11. Officers later arrested the boy without incident in Albert Park. Police said the incident was neither a terrorist act nor a targeted attack.
