Telangana sets 18-month target for statewide land resurvey

Telangana’s government plans to complete a statewide land resurvey within 18 months. It will assign 14 supervisory officials, two for each of seven zones, to monitor the quality of the work.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy reviewed preparations. The programme aims to improve land records and reduce disputes. Resolving those disputes is the government’s stated objective rather than an outcome already achieved.
The initial work is to cover at least two villages in each mandal, a local administrative unit. Teams will include licensed surveyors, village administration staff, deputy tehsildars or revenue inspectors and other personnel.
Officials have been told to collect daily information on parcels covered, difficulties encountered and villages where work is taking place. The department will establish a dedicated dashboard to record progress village by village.
The dashboard is also intended to show team locations and the use of specialised surveying rovers in real time. Supervisory officers are expected to monitor the process continuously and recommend adjustments when needed.
The government said funding was ready and additional resources could be released to buy equipment. Reddy warned against collecting money from residents in the name of the survey and said violations would draw strict action.
