Damon Hill discusses grief ahead of Australian documentary screenings

Damon Hill, the 1996 Formula One world champion, discussed making the documentary Hill during a visit to Australia. The film begins its British Film Festival screenings on October 28.

Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald, Hill said revisiting painful memories had been difficult but necessary. The film centres on the death of his father, double world champion Graham Hill, in a plane crash when Damon was 15.

Director Alex Holmes combines archive footage with interviews featuring Hill and his wife Georgie. Palace Cinemas lists a 90-minute running time and says the documentary also explores Ayrton Senna's death and Hill's rivalry with Michael Schumacher.

Hill won 22 grands prix and claimed his world title with Williams. His Australian visit promotes a film that examines the personal experiences behind those racing achievements.
