British counterterrorism police released two Latvian men on bail after their arrest inside RAF Molesworth. The investigation continues, and their release is subject to strict conditions.

The men, aged 32 and 36, were arrested on Thursday, October 8, within the perimeter of the base in eastern England, which is used by US forces. Police announced their release on Friday. The official statement confirmed that both are Latvian nationals living in the UK.

Commander Helen Flanagan, head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, said investigators were examining why the men were at the site, including whether their presence could be connected with criminal activity. Police have not announced conclusions about their motives.

The arrests followed a separate security incident involving RAF Fairford in western England. Police nevertheless said there was nothing in the investigation so far to suggest a connection between the two events. Release on bail does not mean the inquiry into the incident at RAF Molesworth has ended.
