Ukraine's military claims strikes on three Russian missile facilities

Ukraine's General Staff said on October 9 that it struck three Russian facilities linked to missile production. Russian regional officials reported a fire in Redkino and one serviceman's death in Nizhny Novgorod region.

The Ukrainian military named a missile-component plant in Tver region and an intercontinental ballistic missile disposal centre in Nizhny Novgorod region among the targets, Reuters reported.

The General Staff said the strike on the disposal centre was intended to reduce Russia's access to explosives and rocket fuel. That is the Ukrainian command's assessment. The Russian officials' accounts cited in the report do not confirm that all three named facilities were hit.

Nizhny Novgorod's governor reported that one serviceman died while repelling the attack. He said drone debris caused minimal infrastructure damage.

Tver's governor said on the morning of October 9 that a drone attack caused a fire at a plant in Redkino. He reported that the fire had been extinguished. These statements describe consequences of the overnight attacks, while the Reuters report does not establish the extent of damage at the three facilities claimed by Ukraine.
