Ukraine water-industry association warns of possible scheduled supplies
Ukrvodokanalekologiya director Oleksandr Shkin linked the risk to prolonged electricity outages. He did not announce approved schedules or implementation dates.
In a Novyny.LIVE interview reported on October 12, Shkin explained that backup power does not ensure uninterrupted operation of water networks. Generators need to be stopped and fuel delivered to facilities.
He estimated that independent power sources in most cities could sustain water supply for at least several hours once a day. That describes potential operation during extended outages, rather than a promise of identical service across every locality.
Shkin also warned of difficulties in apartment blocks. Backup equipment may have enough power to fill the water network but not to pump water to upper floors.
Amid electricity disruptions, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko had reported reduced water pressure following damage to a high-voltage line. Specific measures and supply arrangements in each city depend on the condition of its local infrastructure.
