Police seek man after attack on nine-year-old girl in Krasnoyarsk

Police said the attack occurred on Olkhovaya Street in the Solnechny neighbourhood on October 9. Investigators subsequently reported opening a hooliganism case.

The child's mother contacted police on the evening of the incident. She said an unidentified man attacked her daughter as they were returning home and then fled. The suggestion that he was intoxicated is not a finding from a medical examination.

Published surveillance footage shows one of two men walking along the street suddenly running towards a woman and child and grabbing the girl by the neck. His companion stops the attack, after which the woman and child leave.

Police are establishing the man's identity and the circumstances. The available statements do not report an arrest.

NGS24, citing the Investigative Committee, reported that a criminal case had been opened on a hooliganism charge. The agency said the girl's health was no longer at risk. Investigative Committee head Alexander Bastrykin requested a report on the investigation's progress.
