US diesel futures fall after Trump announces Russian supply agreement

November diesel futures on CME fell as much as 4.98% to $4.6396 a gallon during trading on October 9, RBC reported. The move followed Donald Trump's announcement of an agreement with Russia on additional fuel supplies.
The figure cited by RBC was a session low rather than the final closing price. Dow Jones also recorded a decline after Trump's announcement, reporting a 4.5% fall to $4.6632 a gallon at a different point in trading. The figures represent separate snapshots of the market price.
Trump said Russia would supply more than 300,000 tonnes to American and global markets, another 500,000 tonnes in November and one million tonnes subsequently. He linked additional volumes to the condition of Russian refineries. The US Treasury authorised transactions involving Russian diesel until April 7, 2027. That permission enables trade but does not confirm completed shipments or guarantee lower retail prices.
